Sherri, I scoff in your general direction...

On a "normal" blog, to use the term "a few posts ago" would ordinarily mean "a few days ago". In case you haven't noticed, this blog does not fall into that category. As soon as I figure out what category this blog falls into, you'll be the first to know. But I do know this, Sherri posted an old picture of herself and laid down a challenge to anyone "brave" enough to post a picture of themselves. Aside from frizzy hair and a dress made completely from petroleum products, I saw nothing "embarrassing" about the picture. It was a relatively "normal" looking picture.

But I'm always up for a challenge. So, Ladies and Gentlemen, I dare you to behold the mighty, awesome power of the 80's Texas Super Hair, which, outside the confines of Trinity Broadcasting Network, know no equal:

(scrolling down for dramatic effect)

SHA-ZAM! (Rita must be shaking in her boots!)

Oh yeah, Katdish, I love your 'stache!!! Can you pull those pants up any higher??

Gives whole new meaning to "awesome kat!!"

BTW, that cat in the lake with the watermelon? That is really awesome.

That would be my dad, known to his friends as "Big Sam", and known to my cousin Paul as "Uncle Elvis: King of Uncles".

Did you notice the expert make-up and wardrobe design by Walt Disney Studios? Fantastic!

Yeah....I hope you burned that dress...

Yes, Some Mighty big Texas hair, but only the dress was ugly (sorry)- I think you look good, otherwise.

And, honestly, you said my pic. was relatively "normal looking"...I ask you- How many people looked like that in your school?
I was 1 of 3 redheaded girls and THE ONLY one with fuzzy red hair. And no boobs. And a big butt.

My photo was uglier.
Your dress may have won the ugly contest though, although it was a pretty tight race!

Who is the other lady in the pic? She's a cutie too.

I just want to say that it isn't fair of you to post your picture. Everyone knows they had the biggest hair. The hole in the ozone was caused by Texas big hair in the 80s.

Here's the sad part - I LOVED that dress! It's really a shame that you can't see it in its dropped waist glory with white hose and black pumps!

Sherri - Believe or not, lots of people looked like you in my school. There was, however, a very small percentage of loud mouthed, gigantic haired, half Asian Amazon girls who sucked at math and were sent home weekly for dress code violations.

The girl on the right is my older yet shorter sister, Becky. That picture was taken right before her first and final appearance of Wheel of Fortune, where she went Bankrupt 3 times, and did not win anything but a year's supply of yeast. To which her comment was, "Isn't that something you try to get rid of?" Yeah, we're all pretty obnoxious...

I also wore white hose with black pumps, sad to say. And I had similar dropped waist dresses.
How did we ever snag a man?

Your shcool should have had dress codes that included banning white hose with black pumps worn with loud dresses!

Please tell me your sister did not say that on the air?

And finally,
How tall are you?

Sherri Murphy said...

Yeah, I typed shcool.

Just to clarify, I violated dress code by wearing mini skirts to school. I wore them because:
a) I wanted to
b) Because members of the drill team were allowed to wear practice uniforms with their asses hanging out all day long with no problems. It was a form of protest. I started carrying sweat pants in my car and would put them on under my mini skirts.

No, my sister did not say that on the air, but she said it as soon as we were leaving.

I am 5 foot 6 and probably a half. That hair put me closer to 6 feet tall. My dad is 6'3", my sister (pictured) is 5'3".

I'll have to post another one sometime where my hair is so high I WAS 6 FOOT!

You are a rebel, ain't ya'?

Hold everything. Your sister was on Wheel of Fortune?????

Rita isn't shaking. Not unless I am shaking my head. My hair was down to my waist in high school, and thick, so if I curled it and added hair spray, it was.....voluminous. Usually I wore it in a long thick braid, and when I shook my head, people ducked.

Beth - yes, she was on Wheel of Fortune. My cousin Lisa was on The Price is Right. But unlike my sister, she not only won her showcase, but the other showcase as well. She sold many of her prizes to pay the taxes. Do you know how hard it is to sell a fully serviceable hot dog vendor stand?

Speaking of Wheel of Forutne, what is your favorite wrong guess on that show? Here's mine: Right - "GONE WITH THE WIND". Wrong - "DONE WITH ONE HAND".

gotta love that 80s hair lol

Done with one hand...snort! I would just die if I said that on national tv. I never sported the black hose and white shoes myself, but I did rock the black hose and METALLIC shoes. Oh yeah, I was a fashion queen in my day. And Kat's got nuthin on my big Texas hair. I could get my bangs sprayed up so high, it looked like I ran at full speed into a wall. Oh yeah, the 80's...
