In Honor of One of the Greatest Musicians of All Time

On this date in 1827, Beethoven died. In honor of him, I post this today..

.

A tourist in Vienna is going through a graveyard and all of a sudden he hears some music. No one is around, so he starts searching for the source.

He finally locates the origin and finds it is coming from a grave with a headstone that reads: Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770-1827. Then he realizes that the music is the Ninth Symphony and it is being played backward! Puzzled, he leaves the graveyard and persuades a friend to return with him.

By the time they arrive back at the grave, the music has changed. This time it is the Seventh Symphony, but like the previous piece, it is being played backward.

Curious, the men agree to consult a music scholar. When they return with the expert, the Fifth Symphony is playing, again backward. The expert notices that the symphonies are being played in the reverse order in which they were composed, the 9th, then the 7th, then the 5th.

By the next day the word has spread and a throng has gathered around the grave. They are all listening to the Second Symphony being played backward.

Just then the graveyard's caretaker ambles up to the group. Someone in the crowd asks him if he has an explanation for the music.

"Oh, it's nothing to worry about" says the caretaker. "He's just decomposing!"

Thanks to Happy Catholic, who posted this months ago!

On another note, I seem to have found a facility right here in Chicago to help me with my Polka Problem. Come check out my blog today to find out more about it.....Random Musings.

Thanks, Helen. That made me smile this morning. I love me some geeky muppets! The water guy was pretty good, too.

The Leprechaun Brothers.

My new goal in life is now to write a song that someday is sang by puppets and playing by a dude on the street with water glasses!!!

You think I'm kidding...

I love me some Muppets. (Happy Birthday, Ludwig!)

Was riding along on my bike with my iPod on 'shuffle' which has all the music I ever owned...and this song came on. There I am, bawling my eyes out, imagining 3 little kids eating their Cheerios in front of the TV 25 years ago (yeah, I was THAT mother).

..."it's not any trouble, you know it's a double-u, when you sing wuh, wuh, wuh, wuh..."

I still have all the words memorized. And I still have all the records, as in VINYL 45 rpm records.

Now I feel like I'm decomposing.

Oh, thanks Helen!

The Leprechaun Brothers... I actually don't think I ever saw this.

And poor Charlie sat here listening to me watch Muppets on YouTube (I took a Mana Mana detour too) and just shook his head. My man may not 'get' me, but he loves me. ;)

Beth, you can do it. I know you can!
Candy, I have vinyl records, too. It's okay. I know what you mean though. Hucklebuck made a comment on Katdish's blog a couple of weeks ago that he doesn't have a blackberry, so he has to check his email the old fashioned way by actually sitting at the computer, and I nearly bust a gut! THE OLD FASHIONED WAY! He made it sound like maybe someone would get the email if the pony express rider wasn't shot on the way.
Steph, it is better to be loved than understood, isn't it?

Oh, man! Was that Danny Boy video good! I love Animal: "Danny Boy, oh Danny Boy, Oh, Danny.......Boy!"

My daughter is home sick with a cold. I actually think I could spend the entire day watching muppet videos on youtube. Which I suppose is kind of pathetic and sad, but still...

Animal is my favorite, too. I love the end when he wanders around aimlessly calling "DANNY BOY!".

Guess who has a DVD set of the Muppet Show at her house....

Sure the kids have scratched a couple of the discs so that they're unusable now...but still!
