Time for something new?

About this time last year this blog was something ... I don't know what but something. A small group of people would run up hundreds of comments on totally inappropriate posts and twisting it into something even more inappropriate. This group grew and then some of them discovered twitter and ran up thousands of tweets. Now they are invading email with hundreds of emails and I wonder if it is time for something new?

For less than $50 a year we can register a domain name and host with none other than Peter Pollock. We can setup a WordPressMU blog and create a social site on the BuddyPress platform. This allows for Activity Streams, Extended Profiles, Extensible Groups, Friend Connections, Messaging, Forums, and WP blogging.

I would be happy to get it setup and provide the premium buddypress theme package (this will cost my $80 but I can use this in other places for my design business)

Is this something that should be considered?

wow. 100's of comments? wish I had been here a year ago :)

I'm wondering... would it be public to everyone? Because I'm not entirely sure the last email around would need to be read by the world.

I know, when I sent my email about going incognito, I wouldn't have wanted everyone reading it.

I like the idea tho and can help with the cost some.

100's might have been an exaggeration but over 100 is not.

Creamation anyone?

... Duane Scott

It can be made private and even have sections made private with other sections made public.

Then I love the idea.

I'll kick in $$ to help too! And cremation post? Ahhh, good times!!!

Nick the Geek said...

did anyone else think Marni just said she'd kick some @$$?

I think that's what Marni meant, Nick. And you should be worried because she was lookin' at you when she said it.

As for the other thing, yeah. I have no idea what any of it means. Stupid technology.

Wendy... then you're supposed to blindly say "Yes!"

Not understanding merely means you agree but don't know why.

I'm in. It's better than a thousand emails!

I really hope you know because I don't remember

Some how, some way, the inappropriateness is going to be leaked to tens, maybe even hundreds on the web and reputations will be ruined. Not mine, of course, because I do not participate in that sort of thing. But for some of you... ((shudder))

Wow - you really are a geek. I don't know what half of that meant, but I do love reading what y'all have to say.

Marni - I read a$$ too, girl. You need to watch your language! I expected more from you!

I have no idea why my comment posted again...except that when I threaten to kick some @$$, I mean it!

I was just thinking today (since it's been forever that I've done a blog post)-"what other time-suck social media might I pursue to drain even more time out of my day than what I've already done??" Oh my.

Go for it, Nick. I may stumble on to it in the middle of the night sometime. You just want it for the Extended Profile. I know your type. And you know how I shudder when I hear anything with "stream" in it.

Peter P said...

"But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!"

Amos 5:24

Did you shudder, Candy?

Marni said...

I didn't shudder but now I'm singing Ike and Tina's version of "Rollin on the River". Thanks Peter for getting that stuck in my head.

I think Buddy Press sounds interesting. Let me know. I'd like to participate and contribute as well.

Marni,

That song reminds me of Steph. Red Clay makes me think of the Red River so there's that but more importantly the "do do do do do do do do do do do do do do" part sounds like doo doo which always makes my think of Steph.

Candy said...

Yes, Peter, I did.

I left a good job in the city for this??

Stinkin' earworm. Thanks, Nick.

So the question is....

What would the name be for this new craziness?

Christianswhoarestrange.com?
JesusfreakswhoTWSS.com?

or how about

Katdishandfriends.com?

That last one says it all, gives a warning as to the expected content and uses katdish's name, thus absolving us from all responsibility.

Marni said...

sorryyourewelcome.com

Helen said...

I think Marni's suggestion definitely says it all!

I'm in. I'll kick some @$$ with Marni.

Starting with you, Nick. I wish I'd never associated my name with doo doo.

Well Nick, it seems pretty obvious that:

1. We have no idea what you are talking about;
2. We like saying @$$ and doo doo.

Shark Bait said...

My only question is, who's going to judge the weekly caption contest?

'Cos if we can get like Chuck Norris or Jon Acuff, then you can sign me up right now!

Marni said...

I think Sharkbait just wrote our organizational motto for us.

We exist to glorify and exault the one true God. We like to say @$$ and doo doo.

Wendy could make us shirts in her etsy shop.
