If all humans have rhythm, my husband must not be human. Poor guy has got none.

I saw this on TV last night and thought it was interesting, too! I've always been amazed that my kids have bounced to the beat of music before they could talk or walk. Joey even sang before he could say any words.

I believe that rhythm helps learning as well. There have been many times when my children have learned a great task to them at the time by putting music to it.

thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog

my baby loves to "sing" and clap to music.

I used to teach Kindergarten. All my kids (especially the special needs children) responded so much better to rote memorization with the beginning stages of reading if I set it to music and rhythm.

NtG, by encouraging your baby to clap and sing, you are readying that little smart brain to develop the parts needed to form memory function.

Helen, you are so cool for posting this :-)

Dr. Sacks is both fascinating and adorable!
I love this post Helen. I agree with every thing he said,as I am a lover of music, and come from a long line of musicians .

It made me wish I could play a musical instrument.

But, on a brighter note, apparently dancing in the supermarket is good for my brain. :-O
I just regret missing the Nova episode, since I only saw this yesterday, and the Nova episode was aired on June 30.

Wendy - Just because all humans have rhythm doesn't mean it has to sync up with everyone else's rhythm...

I don't want care what music does to my brain!

The question is, does it have a good beat and can you dance to it?

I love the way music can reenergize me when I am tired. Especially while driving and listening to 80's music.

Raspberry berret....the kind you find in a second hand store...

Oh no, Helen... Don't quote the little purple freak! Surely there must be some good 80's music that you can quote.

"I don't want care what music does to my brain!"

Um yeah @katdish seems like something happened to your brain with that grammar.
