Well Sonny, Back in My Day......

This video reminded me of my dad's story about walking to school five miles, wearing shoes only when it snowed. I realized from this video that now I am the one who tells unbelieveable stories about the hardships of the old days compared to now. I hope you enjoy the video. It is a hoot. And I stole it from Ironic Catholic. Shhhhhhhh. Don't tell anyone.

My friend Whitney's mom also had the five miles to school and shoes story. Anyone else out there hear it from their elders?

When I was a kid I rode my bike everywhere. I had a friend on the other side of town and I rode my bike. When school was over I rode my bike. Funny story ... I wasn't fat when I was a kid.

I really enjoyed the clip but we aren't looking forward to Conan taking over the Tonight Show.

Isn't Leno going to be on an hour and a half earlier? So doesn't it all work out in the end? Besides, then you can switch to Letterman.....maybe not.

Helen, I walked home from school everyday (in nice weather )2 miles, but only because I was in high school and didn't want to ride the bus.

I walked and rode my bike everywhere before I drove myself. We didn't give it a second thought back then.

I would just as soon go back to much simpler times myself.

This clip was great.

Brought back some good memories of not so long ago (but feels like an eternity).

Okay...did I miss something? Why is Nick's sister in the time out chair?

because she is bad and needed to be in timeout. She put me in a mood on Saturday that made it impossible for me to write my SYP post so it is 2 days late. Yep all her fault and so she needs to be in timeout.

I walked to school EVERY day of elementary school. Sun, rain, sleet, and snow.

(We lived across the street from the school. Then we moved a block away.)

I walked to school barefoot, in the snow, uphill (both ways). And did I mention that I lived in a van down by the river?

I'm gonna take a picture of my van and post it someday. You will behold it in all it's glory. If it wasn't filled with junk, you COULD live in it! (How suck would that be? Unless I got to tour the country and meet blogs friends in it. That would rule.)

Ya know my and Charlie's favorite line that we say way too often to each other, and at the most inappropriate times?

"In a VAN down by a RIVer!"

Yeah. I don't know how the world survived the disturbance in the force that occurred when Katdish and I met last week.

Chris Farley is unbelievably funny and that was his premier skit. Sort of like Need More Cow Bell and Will Farrell.

So I go off to work once again, saving lives, stamping out disease, and come home to this?? Woot woot! As usual, I'm last to comment.

All I can say is that if the kids all walked to school and we walked to work, we went back to being hunters and gatherers, and lived in a van down by the river, we'd all be better off. Oh, and I wouldn't have a job. But then I'd at least be here to comment. Oh, the paradox of it all.

And if I recall, thats "eating government cheese in a van down by the river...." Love Chris Farley.
